Sunscreen Facts and Things to Consider

Sunscreen is important, and we all know it. As your best option in preventing Melanoma, which is the deadliest form of skin cancer, it’s important to know if you’re using the right type of sunscreen to protect yourself. To make sure you are taking every step to keep safe in the sun, read our five sunscreen facts below:

  • SPF Does Not Fully Protect You!

Make sure that your sunscreen is labeled “Broad Spectrum” to protect from multiple types of rays. SPF alone only protects against UVB rays.

  • Make Sure You are Using Enough Sunscreen

You should use about 2 ounces of sunscreen per application.

  • Don’t Forget Your Lips!

Your lips can suffer from sun burn, too. Lip balm that contain titanium dioxide and zinc will block the sun’s rays.

  • Your Scalp Can Get Burnt

The best way to protect your scalp is to wear a hat. There are also sunscreen specifically made for the scalp that are nourishing and not greasy.

  • Sunscreen is Safe

Every hour of the day someone is dying from melanoma, but nobody has ever died from sunscreen ingredients.
