Healthy Treats for Your Summer Fun!

Does the thought of an orange-y, vanilla-y, creamy, cold popsicle have you reminiscing of your childhood summers’ spent poolside in the hot, humid dog-days of August? Us too!

We want to remind all of our followers that moderation is key. BUT, for those with a craving of something nutritious, cold and sweet on these hot summer days, there just might be a healthier option that you can enjoy without all the guilt.

Ready for the good news? Real fruit bars! Yes, you heard us, there are a few brands out there that make real fruit bars with no added sugar, coloring or preservatives. In other words, you can eat all the fruit bars you want without feeling the guilt, right? Ok, maybe not ALL the fruit bars you want, but you can at least go back for seconds and feel like you’re covering the food pyramid instead of planning your workout to burn off all the refined sugars of creamsicles.

More good news…..we did some research for you, to find a few popsicle brands that contain “no added sugar.” Drum roll please…. “goodpop” makes organic freezer pops with “100% Fruit Juice, No Added Sugar, Fat Free, Gluten Free, Non GMO Project Verified, USDA Certified Organic, Certified Kosher, Top 8 Allergen Free and No Artificial Color, Flavors, or Preservatives!” Yay for healthier options!

We also came across “Ruby’s Rockets.” They come highly recommended by their following and are a “Dairy-free snack with No added sugar, made with organic, non-GMO ingredients, only 25 calories, Gluten free, Vegan, Kosher and An excellent source of Vitamins A & C.” The Rock-It Red frozen pop has just 4 grams of sugar, with the sugar coming from the strawberries, lemons, carrots, sweet potatoes, and beets. That’s practically a meal for some kids! They are a bit hard to find but guess what…shipping is free!

Don’t have these brands in your local grocery? No worries take a gander at the ingredient list of what you do have and look for the first few ingredients to be real fruit. The first few ingredients make up the largest part of what you’re eating. Healthier choices, right?

Hey, when it’s hot out and you want to be at least a little bit disciplined with your sugar intake, fruit bars are a good option to have!
